Posted November 4th 2025

It's New Release Tuesday! Another heapin' helpin' of new movies!

HARD BOILED (1992)

In this genre-defining masterpiece from action legend John Woo (Face/Off, Mission: Impossible 2, The Killer), a cop (Chow Yun-Fat, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, The Killer) who loses his partner in a shoot-out with gun smugglers goes on a mission to catch them. In order to get closer to the leaders of the ring he joins forces with an undercover cop (Tony Leung, In the Mood for Love, Marvel's Shang-Chi) who's working as a gangster hitman. They use all means of excessive force to find them. (BLU-RAY + 4K)

OUTLAND (1981)

Writer-director Peter Hyams (Capricorn One, 2010, The Relic) takes classic Western tropes off-world and into the future in sci-fi thriller Outland, starring Sean Connery as a federal marshall assigned to keep the peace on a distant moon.

Con-Am 27 is a mining facility on Io, one of Jupiter's largest moons. Six hundred million miles away, the gravity there is one sixth of what it is on Earth, and there is no breathable atmosphere. The work is hard, the bonuses big and productivity is breaking all records. But people are dying. Every so often they just snap. The secret? A drug that can keep its miners working days on end, but over time results in burn-out and psychosis. When new Marshall William O'Niel (Sean Connery) investigates, he uncovers a deadly conspiracy and finds his life under threat from a company that will stop at nothing to keep him quiet. (4K ULTRA HD)

FAMILIAR TOUCH (2024)

Ruth (Kathleen Chalfant), a retired cook in her 80s, enjoys preparing breakfast daily in her cozy kitchen, though small and puzzling errors have now begun to punctuate her comfortable routine. Soon, Ruth finds herself moving into an assisted living facility, which she does not remember having selected for herself. Among her fellow memory care residents, Ruth feels lost and adrift, certain she has found herself somewhere she does not belong. As she gradually begins to accept the warmth and support of care workers Vanessa (Carolyn Michelle) and Brian (Andy McQueen), she finds new ways to ground herself in her body, even as her mind embarks on a journey all its own. Writer-director Sarah Friedland’s coming-of-old-age feature compassionately follows the winding path of Ruth’s shifting memories and desires while remaining rooted in her sage perspective. (DVD)

THE MAN IN THE IRON MASK (1998)

For the honor of the crown and the destiny of a country, four heroes must reassemble for one last epic battle… Leonardo DiCaprio leads a phenomenal cast, including Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich, Gérard Depardieu, and Gabriel Byrne in the thrilling tale of majesty and Musketeers, The Man in the Iron Mask. It is a time of great splendor…and even greater despair. When the selfish excesses of France's arrogant King Louis XIV begin to threaten his subjects' very lives, the legendary Musketeers—Athos, Porthos, Aramis, and d'Artagnan—must reunite to save their country once more. The key to their plan? A mysterious masked prisoner, who may be France's only true hope. (BLU-RAY + 4K)

TROUBLE EVERY DAY (2001)

The first excursion into genre cinema by the celebrated French auteur Claire Denis, who had made her name with her previous features Chocolat and Beau Travail, Trouble Every Day is an erotically charged exploration of our darkest human desires and a key film in the development of what later came to be known as the New French Extremity movement.

Dr. Shane Brown (Vincent Gallo, Buffalo ’66) and his new wife June (Tricia Vessey, On the Edge) are honeymooning in Paris, though Shane has other plans for their trip. He is hoping to track down his former medical colleague Léo Semenau (Alex Descas, Bastards) and discuss a past study into the human libido. But Léo doesn’t want to be found – he is living in obscurity to hide his own wife, Coré (Béatrice Dalle, Inside), who has developed an insatiable, cannibalistic lust as a result of Léo’s outlandish experiments. A lust that Shane is beginning to feel, too…

A dark and lyrical rumination on the pleasures of the flesh, Trouble Every Day is a remarkable work of extreme cinema that challenged critics and audiences upon its release before it came to be lauded as a modern classic. (Region B BLU-RAY + All-region 4K)
