Scarecrow is so excited to announce a new section for the whole month of February, coinciding with Black History Month- Essential Black Cinema! This section, curated by staff member/Unstreamable genius Jas Keimig in conjunction with Black Brilliance Research Project, showcases a wide range of Black cinema, from historically groundbreaking to nostalgic, from culturally significant African-American directors and actors to a few selections from Africa. Scarecrow is an entry point to explore the lives and stories of every person, and it is in that spirit that we will also be doing a watchlist prompt every Friday this month, to share with each other our favorite movies made by Black artists under different subjects. This is the beginning of hopefully a much more expansive collaborative effort next year, which we are super excited about. See any movies here that you love, or have been meaning to watch? Come and check out this amazing new section!
